Granite Kitchen Worktops Provide Hardwearing Beauty

Granite Kitchen Worktop

Kitchen surfaces are expected to cope with years of heavy use, which is why stone worktops, and in particular granite worktops, are ranked extremely high in popularity among a vast range of kitchen ideas. Whether the required style of a dream kitchen is traditional, ultra-modern or anything in between, granite worktops, other natural stone worktops, such as marble or quartz, for instance, and natural stone tiles offer hard wearing kitchen surface solutions of the highest quality.

Because stone tiles and, of course, stone worktops are available in a multitude of colours, textures and effects, it is possible to find kitchen worktops and stone tiles to match the decor and style of any kitchen, as the many kitchen ideas displayed in magazines, kitchen stores and their websites indicate quite clearly. Granite kitchen worktops, for instance come in colours ranging from greens and blues; pastel creams and yellows; greys and pinks to shades of reds and, of course, black.

The texture of one granite worktop may be medium or slightly coarse and grainy, incorporating pebble-like, fairly large effects, while another granite worktop may include flecks of colour, or sparkly stones, as is the case in the kitchen surfaces using the South African Stargate Cosmos or the Indian Star Galaxy varieties of black granite. Zimbabwean granite, on the other hand, will provide a pure black kitchen surface.

Essentially, every slab used to create a stone worktop is slightly different, which makes each kitchen worktop totally unique, even if two home owners purchase a stone worktop of the same variety from the same supplier at the same time. This, of course, is one of the reasons stone kitchen worktops are so popular among kitchen ideas.

Granite worktops also require very little maintenance. A granite worktop may require resealing once in a while to maintain the sheen of the kitchen worktop. Ammonia-containing cleaners should not be used on a stone worktop, as they may dull the finish of a stone kitchen surface. While granite is highly moisture and stain resistant, spills should always be removed from kitchen surfaces immediately to prevent staining.
