Granite worktop London

Granite worktop London

Wherever elegant, shining beauty and durability are required for working surfaces, Granite worktop  is the answer. Cut with specialist equipment from igneous rock mined from locations all over the world, these worktops have an incredible hardness and density. They are also far less porous than marble, which is the result of being exposed to considerably higher amounts of heat and pressure during the rock’s formation over millions of years. As a result, a Granite worktop is exceptionally hygienic and easy to clean, making it the perfect solution for all high traffic areas where good hygiene and ease of cleaning are required.

Depending on where the rock is mined, the slabs will display a grainy texture somewhere between medium and coarse, or appearing larger, almost like they contain pebbles. Either way, this is part of the natural stone and, in combination with the naturally varying colours, again depending on location, will ensure that every worktop created will have its own, unique look. The natural colour of granite can, by the way, vary from deep red or black through a whole range of greys to yellow, pastel creams, pinks, blues and greens. These variations do, of course, make it possible to find worktops to match and blend in perfectly with any decor.

Due to their extreme durability, Granite tops are perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, reception area countertops in hotels or any other kind of business and many other applications. High frost resistance also makes them suitable for outdoor use. Although they are incredibly hard, it is advisable not to cut meat, vegetables, etc directly on the surface, as scratching may occur. In the same way, it is better to use mats or trivets rather than placing hot baking trays, pots or pans directly onto the worktop, as this may result in discolouration. Should this happen, the mark can usually be buffed off with a little fine steel wool.

Maintaining the beauty of a Granite worktop is comparatively easy. Acidic spills, such as soda pop, lemon juice or vinegar, for example, should be mopped up immediately to prevent staining. Sticky, glue-like residues can be easily removed with the help of a razor blade or credit card. Regular cleaning with water and some PH balanced, mild washing up liquid, which should be rinsed and dried thoroughly, followed by a gentle polish with a soft cloth will keep that magnificent shine lasting for a lifetime.
