Is Marble Worktops Right for You?

Marble is multipurpose and a timeless choice for worktops for it will definitely look good in just about any kitchen setting. That may be true, but is this high-maintenance material ideal for you?

Marble is a metamorphic stone that can be found in the hilly regions of Asia, Europe, North America and South America. One of its main features is that it comes in an extensive range of stunning shades.

These excellent types of worktops are available in hues of grey, green, pink, yellow, black and white. Some of them have subtle patterns, while others with dark, noticeable veins. The asymmetrical outlines of the veins can be an attractive contrast to the straight lines present in most kitchens.

In spite of the wide ranging colours, white is often the first choice when people purchase Marble worktops. It may be because white marble adapts well in any home scheme and blends magnificently with different styles and materials.

It can look strikingly dressed up with a polished finish and can also be made more casual with a honed finish.

However, since marble is one of the absorbent natural stones, it is predisposed to discoloration. Even though it’s not as durable as its cousin; Granite, it is still stronger than soapstone.

Moreover, it has a low scrape rating, so it may scratch fairly easily. On a bright side, quality Marble worktops are pretty sturdy and resistant to heat. They won’t chip or dent easily as well.
