Okite worktops are a range of exceedingly beautiful quartz-based worktops, consisting of around 97 per cent quartz and seven per cent polyester resin.
Available in thicknesses of 1.3 cm, 2 cm and 3 cm, these Italian-made worktops have an absorption rate of 0.022 per cent, making them far more resistant to staining by spills than even the closest competitor, granite. Granite, by contrast, has an absorption rate of 0.2 to as much as 1 per cent.
When it comes to durability and strength, Okite worktops are a clear winner – beating both granite and marble, as well as most other quarried stones in terms of resistance to staining, cracking or breaking.
As a matter of fact, tests on environmental, mechanical and other physical properties have revealed that there are only three minerals that beat Okite in strength; topaz, sapphire and diamond.
Okite worktops do not require special polishing or sealing processes. They are highly scratch, chip, heat and stain resistant and have an incredible flexibility and strength. As a result, they require very little maintenance.
To preserve their gorgeous looks, all that is required is routine cleaning using a neutral pH detergent, a good rinse with clean water and a quick buff with a dry cloth. There is no need for additional polishing.
In spite of the low absorption rate, it is best to mop up any spills immediately, especially with highly acidic fluid such as vinegar. This will keep Okite looking like new for years.
Although Okite worktops are comparatively heat resistant, it is best to avoid placing pots or baking trays directly onto them straight out of the oven or off the hob. Extreme heat will eventually damage these worktops. It is therefore advisable to use a heat mat or trivet to avoid this kind of damage.
Available in a wide range of colours and patterns, Okite lends itself to fit any design needs, whether this may involve residential, institutional or commercial applications. There is a colour and pattern to fit the style and decor of any kitchen or bathroom.
Ideal for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops and even reception areas in hotels, the incredible strength of this versatile material makes it equally suitable to be used for a variety of other purposes, such as floor tiles, treads and risers, cladding, partition walls and more.
