Selfridges – Marble works at the Prada concession on 1st floor

In July 2011 The Marble Group Ltd was asked to carry out work for Selfridges on Oxford Street. The job requirement was to chemically clean down a Carrara Marble column using a concentrated liquid stone cleaner so we could remove all traces of old joint filler, old polishes etc. We then had to lightly machine resurface through an appropriate abrasive disc range to leave a smooth honed finish, rinse through using a neutral cleaner, and allow to dry before polishing with crystallising powders. We rinsed through, and allowed to dry before applying a penetrating marble wax, and burnishing to a high glaze finish. We also were instructed to undertake repairs to the ‘Nero Marquina Plinth’ which required us to remove the loose stones and then re-bed the damaged section using a marble glue to the best possible colour match. Once we allowed it to cure we then machine resurface to leave a smooth, flush finish. Finally we re-pointed as required using a cement based grout.
