White quartz worktops are manufactured from natural quartz particles, special polyester resins and occasionally other particles to create pebble-like effects or introduce flecks of colour into the material.
This process, combined with the natural hardness of quartz, which is rivalled only by stones like corundum, diamond or topaz, leaves quartz worktops non-absorbent and highly scratch, chip and crack resistant. Naturally, this makes them ideal for kitchens, bathrooms and a multitude of both residential and commercial settings. Although the tops are also highly resistant to heat, it is better to use a mat or trivet when placing hot pans on the tops.
Available from Technistone, Compac, Stone Italiana, CaesarStone, Silestone and Quarella; Okite, Diresco, Cimstone and Arenastone, to name but a few, white quartz worktops come in thicknesses of 50, 30 or 20 mm and a broad range of effects. While some tops may be pure white, others may have a speckled appearance. Others still may have pebble-like flecks or specks of coloured glass.
What they all have in common is their highly polished, magnificent shine; beauty and easy maintenance. White quartz worktops will only require the occasional clean with a damp cloth to retain their stylish, elegant looks.
